Our progressive series classes will be starting again in August!

Join in with your instructor Katie Schneider (McCaslin) for level 2 of the Progressive Series starting on August 16th.  In Level 2 complete your learning of the 4 & 6-count patterns and move on to the foundational 8-count patterns to finish off the 22 Foundational Patterns of West Coast Swing. A review of selected Foundational Patterns and optional Mini-Privates is on Week 7.
  • When:  Monday nights from August 16 until October 4th (no class on Labor Day).
  • Time:  7:30 pm to 9:45 pm
  • Where: Juanita Community Center, 13027 100th Ave NE, Kirkland, WA 98034
  • Cost: Pre-Registration for Members: $75 / Non-Members: $115 (Includes 1 Year SSDC Membership)
    At-Door Registration for Members: $85 / Non-Members: $125 (Includes 1 Year SSDC Membership)
  • Pre-requisites:  Be a member of the Seattle Swing Dance Club and have completed Part 1 of the Progressive Series.
We encourage leads to sign up early!  We try to balance the leads and follows in the class so we may put a hold on registrations (usually follows) to maintain this balance.   Registration at the door will be allowed  subject to the balance of leads and follows.

The Progressive Series of West Coast Swing dance instructional classes were developed specifically to provide the Seattle Swing Dance Club (SSDC) members with a step-by-step curriculum that will give students an introduction to partnering, technique and the 22 foundational patterns of West Coast Swing. Lynn Gross is a GSDTA certified instructor, NDDCB certified judge and the chief judge for SSDC.
Jim Minty is a GSDTA certified instructor, national competitor, NDDCB certified judge and chief judge.
Katie McCaslin is a national competitor and judge.
Nancy Clark is a GSDTA certified instructor and NDDCB certified judge.

Progressive Class Descriptions

Progressive Part 1: Mondays. 6 Weeks. Begin at the very beginning with the fundamental movement of west coast swing. Learn the foundational 6-count basic patterns, fundamental technique and the basic principles of partner dancing.

Price: Pre-Registration for Members: $75 / Non-Members: $115 (Includes 1 Year SSDC Membership)

Progressive Part 2: Mondays. 7 Weeks. Complete your learning of the 6-count patterns and move on to the foundational 8-count patterns to finish off the 22 Foundational Patterns of West Coast Swing. Review of all Foundational Patterns and optional Mini-Privates on Week 7!!

Progressive Mini-Privates: One Monday on the 7th Week of Part 2.  20 Minute Mini-Private Lessons with your choice of program instructor! Personalized feedback that’s easy on the ego and the wallet! Instructor availability is limited. Sign-ups are first-come, first-served.

Pre-Requisites: Completion of BOTH Part 1 and 2, Membership in the Seattle Swing Dance Club
Price: $25, Current Part 2 Students offered first choice but available to all veteran Part 1 & 2 veteran students a on first-come, first-served basis. Veteran students contact Progressive@seattlewcswing.org to inquire!

Progressive Part 3: Mondays. 6 Weeks. Expand on the skills and patterns learned in Part’s 1 and 2! Add spins, turns, hand-changes and practice your technique.  Understand how patterns build upon themselves. Start to see how it all leads to the good stuff – expression of the movement and feeling of the dance through partnership!

Pre-Requisites: Completion of Part 1, Two Completions of Part 2, Membership in the Seattle Swing Dance Club.
