WORKSHOPS:
Wrap It Up (6:30-7:30 PM): Learn how to get in and out of intricate, complex, twisty advance patterns.

Move That Body! (7:45-8:45 PM): Learn how to incorporate body isolations and lunges into your West Coast Swing patterns.

$15 per class, or $25 for 2 classes, for SSDC members (and  for Emerald City Hoedown 2013 attendees)
$20 per class for non-members

ABOUT JOHN
After beginning in country-western dance in 1992, John Lindo quickly made his mark on the West Coast Swing circuit by garnering an astonishing number of awards and championships in Jack-and-Jills and Strictly Swings. Some of his First Place awards include the U.S. Open, Grand Nationals, Phoenix Champion of Champions. He is also sought after internationally for his experience and teaching, having traveled to five countries in the past year alone. John currently resides in New Jersey, and is an influential presence in the New York City West Coast Swing scene.

West Coast Swing – Step-by-Step

West Coast Swing, Step-by-Step is the instructional series developed specifically to provide the Seattle dance community with a step-by-step curriculum for West Coast Swing dancing.

These classes will give you an introduction to partnering, technique and the foundational patters of West Coast Swing. Four levels of classes are offered throughout the year by the area’s most qualified and accomplished professional instructors; Lynn Gross, Jim Minty, Katie Schneider and Nancy Clark. At all levels, this series is perfect for the beginning dancer and also the more experienced dancer needing a brush-up on the basics.

Level 1: Mondays, January 7th – Feb 4th, 2013,  7:30 – 9:30 PM

Location: Russian Community Center (Map and Directions)
Level 1 starts at the beginning with 6 count patters.
Instructor: Jim Minty

Level 2: Mondays, Febuary 11th – March 11th, 2013, 7:30 – 9:30 PM
Location: Russian Community Center (Map and Directions)
Level 2 moves into Spins and 8 count patterns/whips.
Instructor: Lynn Gross

Practice Dance: Monday March 18th 7:30 – 9:30 PM
This is a free dance to give our step-by-step students a chance
to practice what they’ve learned

Cost: FREE

Level 3:Mondays, April 8 th- May 6th, 2012, 7:30 – 9:30 PM
Location: Russian Community Center (Map and Directions)
Level 3 slingshots into tucks and hammerlocks.
Instructor: Katie Schneider

Practice Dance: Monday May 13th 7:30 – 9:30 PM

This is a free dance to give our step-by-step students a chance
to practice what they’ve learned

Level 4: Mondays, May 20th  - June 24th (Skipping Memorial Day) 1, 2012, 7:30 – 9:30 PM
Location: Russian Community Center (Map and Directions)
Level 4 steps into Whip variations and more turns.
Instructor: Jim Minty

Prerequisites: None for Level 1. Previous completion of the prior levels for each subsequent class. You are no longer required to re-take any classes!
If you have taken previous classes in the Progressive Series you may enroll in the next class level.
